About
Bring a baby, not a five-year-old. The Den says in its own words that it is not a play gym and not childcare, and that a parent with a tiny baby is exactly who it was built for, and the families in its reviews fit that description, from a ten-month-old on a first visit to toddlers making their first friends. It works as a lounge as much as a playroom: a café counter selling coffee and burritos, a classroom and a quieter Zen Room, and a timetable of music classes, bilingual story time and a postpartum group that one mother calls the best thing she did after giving birth. More than one visitor was surprised to find diapers and wipes stocked in the bathroom.
What divides reviewers is the cost. Entry is charged per person rather than per child, so the adult pays as well, and three parents who came for a day thought it too much for what they got. The members writing here are happier with the deal: one concedes that the upfront cost of a membership can feel daunting, and says it is worth it for a baby not yet big enough to run around a playground. A first-visit day pass is discounted, and the venue credits it toward a membership if you join within a week, so that first morning is the cheap way to find out which group you belong to.
