You cannot leave and come back. Admission buys one ninety-minute session, and once you have walked out that was the visit, which matters more than it sounds when the door opens onto a shopping-center parking lot and somebody needs the restroom before the car. Food stays out of the play area entirely, so feed everyone first. Drinks, oddly, are not merely allowed but encouraged, for the adults as much as the children.

What fills the ninety minutes is a campsite. Children climb into a treehouse, pack a life-sized jeep for a trip, and work through exhibits built around fly fishing and white-water rafting, with a craft station alongside and a discovery rug whose theme changes every couple of months so regulars find something new. Sessions are booked ahead and numbers are capped. That is why three separate reviewers, arriving on different days, all describe the same thing — a handful of other children in the room rather than a scrum.

The limit is the age band, and reviewers state it plainly: this is built for very young children and not much more. Below about five it is close to ideal, and a parent of a one-year-old and a three-year-old describes both being absorbed at their own pace in a room quiet enough that the background music is barely noticeable. Past that, the complaint that recurs is simply that there is not enough to do. Strollers are discouraged inside, which is worth knowing if the youngest in the party still naps in one.
